Abstract

Migraineurs often report that their headaches can be triggered by various foods and dietary habits such as fasting or skipping meals. But scientific evidence linking food or food additives to migraine is sparse, and in some cases, nonexistent. Also, the elimination diets for prevention of migraine based on the hypothesis of IgE or IgG-mediated food hypersensitivity has been explored in different studies, but the results are inconclusive. Simultaneous elimination of all food triggers is not generally advised. A well-balanced diet and avoidance of fasting or skipping meals have to be encouraged. Regular meals and snacks help to minimize migraines.
